Falling into Fall…

As Summer heat transitions into chilling Fall breezes I find myself reflecting on another year slowly moving into the upcoming one. Unlike the seasons, always moving forward and changing, I feel stagnated with the presence of September. I won’t self-deprecate here but, for a moment I’ll share that there are a lot of things to do and seldom enough time to complete everything. Or, perhaps however, the problem is not that I do not have enough time, but rather that I don’t use it as efficiently as I can when time allows. It is easy to be overwhelmed with time, or more correctly by time. As Fall briskly flutters in I find myself not only reflecting on time lost but also on how to prioritize it without losing track of it. I need to be on time, I need to make proper use of my time, I need not to waste time…..But I am also a victim of time: I wake up every morning at 6am I fall asleep on days off at 12 noon and again at 4pm and then my bedtime is unmovably at 11pm. Not entirely sure what is, my body automatically gets sleepy at those times, not even at times, but, like clockwork my body is up and down and up and then down again. Speaking optimistically one could say that this is a wonderful thing because my body now has an automatic safe valve that protects it from over heating from over working but of course in a world that values and praises productivity, it could be said that this this fail safe prevents me from optimizing my time to the best of my ability.

And of course as we all know time waits for no one…so despite my own feelings of stagnancy time rushes on

Then, as a Summer Lady transitioning into Fall is a fall indeed, temperatures drop, summer fun ceases, and moods fluctuate often for some, but particularly for me, from highs to lows. And with gloomier days both inside and out creating is certainly more difficult and extra effort is exuded to ensure that creativity somehow continues and the work goes on.

And, I’ve been feeling it for a while not sad exactly but maybe SAD in actuality and it’s tough but of course not all is lost—it never is. This morning after waking up a 6am I got to work and started working on the prototype you see in the picture above. It’s based off a picture I drew but never completed and interestingly enough it depicts a Springy Summery scene, perhaps for me this was my way of instinctively preserving the last hoorah of Summer 2026. And it was great, working on this little scene, because to me it reminded me that progress, even when delayed by compulsory naps, or just life as a whole, work still got done. And I loved the work that was accomplished!

Things have been a bit on the slower side lately but, I have to remind myself that things are still progressing even if it’s not progressing in the way that I may have hoped. The weather now favors sweaters, the leaves will soon orange, become brittle and fall off of the trees, but those, while not my preferred happenings, are changes nonetheless, similar to how despite not having finished the earrings today, progress was still made, changing from the step before to the step after, one step closer to completion.

Also, while I wasn’t looking I managed to receive my first youtube subscriber which is such a blessing and proves that even when we aren’t aware of it change and growth is still happening all around us…

And so my dear Najwa don’t forget to look up every once in a while and remember that the view is good even through perceived stagnation, through change, and with fluctuating feelings. It ain’t nothing but a season change, and there is a season for everything, none of which lasts forever.

Happy Fall Everyone! And see ya next month!
